If the purpose of the correspondents of English; papers in giving prominence to the observations of Costello A. C. J. was to prjudice the English public against Indian jurors or Indians in general it must be said that they do not know their own people and are ignorant of the issue of the.majority of murder trials in their own country. [...] Tc the lawyer however what is of more consequence is the unsatisfactory character of the Act on the point of perspicuity. [...] The Letters Patent constituting the office of the Govenor of Madras as well as the instrument of Instructions to him have also been included with a note that they are the same for other provinces. [...] Sir Alladi Krishnaswamy Aiyar Advocate-General of Madras says: " I have gone through his notes to some of the important sections.. and I can cofidently state that the commentaries are not a mere re-production of the discussions in Parliament or a mere extract of the prnouncements of the Secretary of State or the Under-Secretary in regard to the various provisions but contain a closely [...] The sections have been explained in the light of the corresponding provisions in the Dominion Constitutions of Canada and Australia without losing sight of the difference between the scheme of the 167"clxviii TIM CALCUTTA WEEKLY NOTES.'
