The Eastern commimities at the dawn of their civilization very likely started with communitic ideas of property but in the course of evoltion of a noire complex society they evolved a system for the division of wealth which though somewhat socialistic in its operation within the ambit of family units yet afforded full liberty to individuals to enjoy the fruits of their own labour. [...] They were organised by the infamous agents provocateurs who have had more to do with the ruin of Russia than any other factor.- Many people are under the erroneous ituw.iBion that the Bolshevist regime has th 4mport of the Russian peasantry but it appears to he the very contrary from the following extract from the same article :-- " The Bolshevist regime so far from having the sympathies of th [...] Strahan's view of the mir in the.following terms :— " Kovalevsky after reviewing the advantages and disadvanbages of the mir adds : What is however of far more importance than the opi-: ttion of this or that student of the 'mir is the fact hat it is goradually and spontaneously breaking to pieces.' He finally and perhaps regretfully remarks : The village community thft veneable survival [...] So impressed were we by the excellence of his Introductory Lecture upon the basis of which the appointment was made that we made it the subject of an appreciative notice in the editorial columns of the issue of the Calcutta. [...] The authors rightly say that personal observation of the coduct of cases by eminent advocates and pesonal experience and training of oneself in the conduct of great and complicated trials are the best ways of acquiring it.
