It must not be supposed that it is the lawyers in India alone who are opposed to the continance of the somewhat drastic war legislation or that it is the Government of India alone who are anxious to extend the life of such-legislation: The Government in England recently adopted a means of extending the operation of the Defence of the Realm Act and some analogous legislation to which serious exc [...] The legislation dealt with in the proposed Bill includes not only 57 contentious provisions of the Defence of the Realm Act (including the arbitrary right of search and expression of political papers conferred by Regulation 51) but also the Aliens Restriction Act of 1914 the Trading with the Enemy Acts 21.1944 20ccvi THE CALCUTTA WEEKLY NOTES [VOL.
