It may seem somewhat odd at first sight that in August 1939 the Journal of Corparative Legislation should be publishing a review of the Legislative output of the Empire during the year 1937 but the delay is explained by the fullness of the survey and the difficulty of obtaining information to which Dr. [...] The main principles of civil and criminal law are now settled and the main task of the legislatures is now to adjust the finances of both the subjects and the State. [...] As to the nature of the interest which the Act gives to widows he has expressed the view that while the interest of the widow of the deceased would be the limited interest known as the widow's estate the interests of the widow of a prdeceased son or a predeceased son of a prdeceased son would be absolute interests. [...] The fee allowed to each pleader did not exceed the hearing-fee allowable in the case but the total of the fees allowed to the three pleaders exceeded that amount. [...] 514 of the Criminal Procdure Code or in the Code from which it may reasonably be inferred that proceedings for the forfeiture of the bond should be taken simultaneously with the order convicting the accused.
