The rainfall was more than the normal in all the districts except Balasore where it was little below the normal.4 The annual average for the whole Province was 64.02 inches against the normal of 58.54 inches. [...] The stock of foodgrains was on the whole sufficient elsewhere except in the coastal belt of Ganjam for the requirements of the people. [...] The segregation was found in the size of the grain and the character of the awn. [...] The season on the whole was favourable except in the flooded area in Salepur circle where floods at the time of affected the quality of the fibres. [...] The object of the experiment was to see if by releasing the parasites there were appreciable reduction in the incidence of stem and root borers and as a result of this reduction in the incidence of attack there is increase in the yield of canes in colonised plots.
