[...] - The number on the roll of the first year class at the end of the year was 46 of whom 33 were promoted. [...] In the early stages very satifactory prices were obtained in consequence of which many of the pooling committees formed an exaggerated idea of the value of their cotton and refused to sell even at the comparatively high prices ruling before the serious drop in the market occurred on the 5th of January. [...] In the cotton country the heavy rain in July and early August caused slow growth and excessive weedness and the same conditions operated to the disadvanage of the kharif crops in the wheat tract and of crops other than paddy in the rice tract.
