Government of West Bengal Labour Department Awards made by the Tribunals for the Quarter ending December 1951 [ Reprints from the ”Calcutta Gazette”]

Aluminium Workers' Union 311 Kali Banerji Lane Howrah regarding the matter specified in the schedule to the said order was referred for adjudication to the Fifth Industrial Tribunal; And whereas the said Fifth Industrial Tribunal has submitted to the State Government its award on the said industrial dispute; Now therefore in pursuance of the provisions of section 17 of the Industrial Dispu [...] Coming next to the facts in the present ease I find that the evidence is ex parte that Beharilal and Munshiram were respectively the Treasurer and the 'Assistant Secretary of the Union; Rainnaresh and Kodai were executive members of the Union. [...] The second dispute arose when the employees approached the employers for the increase of their pay and dearness allowance and the charter of demands had been forwarded through the Bengal National Chamber of Labour to which the Union of the employees was affiliated and owned allegiance. [...] The written statement Was submitted by the Company and it is alleged that the revision of pay scales as demanded by the is fantastically high and the Company is not financially capable of implementing the demands as the main business of the Company was catering in the whole of the East India Railway where it was the cotrator for supply of aerated water ice etc. [...] The reference had been originally made to my whilom colleague Sri P. K. Sarkar and during the pendency of the refeence the Company challenged the jurisdiction of the Tribunal and applied to the High Court for issue of a writ of prohibition and a writ of cell loran against the Tribunal.
