1927

The rate and development of flowering were very slow and unsatisfactory which may lead to the reduction in the yield of the crop of the next season. [...] (ii) Manuring:—Manuring was continued on the same lines as in the previous years but in the bulk area the dose of fish guano was reduced to one half due to the scarcity of the stuff and its consequent prohibitive price and adulteration. [...] (iv) Flowering --Forty-one per cent of the trees planted in block C in 1918 and 40 per cent of the trees planted in block D and 34 per cent of the trees planted in block E in 1919 have so far flowered and begun to yield. [...] (viii) Depth of planting.—As to the condition of the trees planted at different depths in 1923-24 it is interesting to note that the deeper the planting the better appears to be their condition at the early stage. [...] It is not possible to arrive at any definite conclusion on account of the general and progressive increase in yield of all the plots which is due to the fertility of the soil made available to the trees by intensive and systematic cultivation ever since the farm was started.
