The Council.—The Council consisting of the principal officers of the State under the Presidentship of the Minister continued to do most of the important work of the State. [...] Among eminent personages who visited Baroda during the year under report may be mentioned:— (1) H. H. the Jam Saheb of Jamanagar (2) The Chief of Miraj-mala (3) The Nawab Saheb of Bala-Shinore and (4) Baba Saheb Pant Sachiv the son of the Chief of Bhor.3 The inaugural ceremony of the Dyeing Bleaching and Calico Printing Factory was performed by H. H. the Maharaja Saheb on the 14th of February [...] The Government of India having furnished us with a memorandum shewing the Provincial Forest Szlools created for the training of subordinates of the Executive Forest6 Service below the rank of Ranger arrangements were made by our Conservator of Forests to send two students to the School at Thana for the purpose of undergoing a training for the posts of Foresters and Guards. [...] The Residency also subsequently communicated the orders of the Government of India passed in 1895 in regard to the right of His Highness' Government to flotsam and jetsam in the vicinity of the fort of Cutchighad that they do not see any reason to assert on behalf of the British Government's claim to derelict goods on His Highness the Gaekwar's Okhamandal coast." 2"10 The Railway authorities wer [...] Considering the strength of the Army the :lumber of defaults and the punishment awarded to defaulters it appears that the general efficiency and discipline of the Army were satisfactory.
