Baroda Administration Report 1930-31 (1st August 1930 to 31st July 1931)

All the four large rivers of this province namely the Tapti the Narmada the Mahi and the Sabarmati with their tributaries flow through and drain the territory. [...] The spread of modern education and of liberal 'ideas is steadily softening the edges and angularities of different faiths and the resulting broad sense of toleration reduces the chances of religious tension which was never acute in the State. [...] 5. His Highness the Maharaja Saheb being the fountain head of all power authority and justice The Minister and in the State has invested the Executive the Naib Dewans. [...] The Minister exercised general supervision over the adminstration with the help of the Naib Dewans ( the Karma Sachiv and Mantra Sachivas ) while he personally administered the affairs of the Political Office which deals with questions concerning the relations of the State with the British Goverment and other Indian States.
