The latter was constituted towards the end of the year and was to do its work during the following year on receipt of the consent of the State Governments of Bihar and West Bengal to allow their officers to serve on the committee. [...] The number of beds occupied in the in-door wards of the hospital was 80 at the close of the year. [...] For the supply of water for the requirements of the hospital orders were placed for the costruction of a pump house over one of the abandoned pits of Messrs. [...] Miners' Institutes— During the year under review the construction of 2 Institutes at Lodna and Sijua in the Jharia coalfield was taken up and the work was nearing completion at the close of the year. [...] With a view to creating a machinery for the regulation and control of housing in the coalfields in the States other than those of Bihar and West Bengal the Government of India requested the respective State Governments to examine the feasibility of constituting similar Mines Boards of Health for the coalfields in those States.
