2. As the statements indicate the period of eighteen months under review.saw a remarkable increase in the extent to which workmen availed themselves of the benefits' of the Act. [...] The number of eases in which compensation was paid in 1925 was nearly three times the number for the second half of 1924; the amount of compensation paid in the two periods was in the ratio of four to one and Commissioners received 650 original applications in 1925 as against 106 in the second half of 1924. [...] of the cases coming within the purview of.Commissioners the wage of the workman concerned was less than Rs. [...] The operation of the Act was also extended by the Government of Burma to the Federated Shan States with effect from the 12th May 1925. [...] The question of workmen's compensation wab one of the subjects discussed by the Seventh Session of the International Labour Conference which was held at Geneva in 1925 and action has been taken to bring the Act in conformity with the provisions of the Convention relating to occupational diseases.
