During the year under review several important changes tookiplace in the administration of Coorg The Secretary of State sanctioned a scheme which embraced :— ( a) the abolition of the civil courts of Subedars ; (b) the extension of the powers and the improvement of the position and prospects of the two Munsils ; the appointment of a Subordinate Judge and Treasury Officer in place of the 2nd A [...] The establishment of a Sub-Judge's Court the extesion of the Munsiffs powers and the abolition of the Civil Courts 'of the five Subedars are the chief features of the Act. [...] The number of wards on the register of the Court of the CommissiDner at the end of 1899 7900 was 15. [...] The number of cases pending before the Magistrates at the -close of the year was in the District Magistrate's Court five in the Courts of the Magistrates of 1 Class five and in the Courts of theMagistrates of the 11 Class forty-seven.57.
