(b) The Board's recommendation in respect of import control has also been implemented by the continuance ofrestrition which allows importation of ferro-silicon to the extent of3 one-third of the requirements of the consumer subject to the condition that he purchases the balance of two-thirds of his requirements fray the indigenous producer. [...] The Ministry explained the reasons for this as follows:- Before action to fix the ceiling prices of three grades of ferro-silicon produced by the Mysore Iron and Steel Works and reported on by the Tariff Board could be taken the Government of India received a representation from the former that the basis of fair selling prices adopted by the latter required revision as their cost of manufacture h [...] During the course of our summary inquiry the representative of the Mysore Works promised to look into these complaints and to ensure that in future the supplies of ferro-silicon strictly conformed to the standards required by the indentors. [...] (a) The Board has worked out an estimate of the cost Board's estimate of production of ferro-silicon at the factory of cost of prodeof the Mysore Works for the period 1st July tion and fair selling price. [...] —After we completed the cost investigation the Mysore Works in a memorandum to the Board dated 14th Setember 1949 claimed certain adjustments in the cost for 1948-49 and the future estimates for 1948-49 it claimed an increase in the labour establishment costs on account of the proposed increase in the contribution by the Works to Provident Fund and the proposed grant of Dearness Bonus.
