In contrast with the trends during the last quarter in which the increase in the index number of manufactured articles was strikingly high as compared with the increases in other index numbers the increase in the index numbers of manufactured articles was 1-7 only. [...] The market ruled more or less firm during the second half of the month largely as a result of the announcement of the Industrial Policy of the Government. [...] Thereafter the prices received a set-back with the approach of the delivery period and transfer of interest from May to the July position and at the close of the month the prices for May and July contracts were Rs. [...] The Chief factor influencing the market was the keen interest shown by the purchasers following the calling of tenders by the Government for the oxport of linseed-oil.
