A high power committee consisting of special anti ttes of the Karachi Cotton Asawiaticn the Pakistan Cotton Association and the Sind Cotton Ginners Association was appointed for the purpose of going into the entire question of cotton purchases and exports and suggesting ways and mans to stabilise prices and ensuring fulfilment of contracts. [...] As a result of these discussions Government informed the public through the press that there was no reason to be distressed over the prospects of the disposal of the new jute crop. [...] Total imports of iron and steel during the first half of the current financial year amounted to 1$3.2 thousand tons - 76.5 thousand tons more than the imports during the corresponding period of the last year.
