Corections have to be made from time to time in the statistics on receipt of revised data from the reporting authorities and the progressive figures should not therefore be understood as necessarily representing the sum of the monthly figures shown in the table or the sum of the latest month's figues and of the progressive figures published in the preceding Survey. [...] The Pucca Bales section opened quiet and there was slight improvement in the prices during the latter part of the month though the business done during the month was not of much significance. [...] The Government announcement regarding the increase of export quota for manufactures and the ending of the Calcutta port strike were the main factors that influenced the market. [...] The prices of Hessian advanced in the beginning of the follogring month the maximum of Rs. [...] The production in April shows a decrease of 766 tons as compared with that of March and the production during the period under review is 32 tons less than the production during the corresponding period of the previous year.
