I HAVE the honour to submit the Annual Report on the working of Co-operative Societies in the United Provinces for the year ending the 30th June 1940. [...] The number of societies working or liquidated left unaudited at the end of the year was 1 993 against 2 699 at the close of the previous year. [...] This is mainly due to the development in the volume of business consequent on the increase in the number of societies. [...] The Weaving and Sale Society Sandila has specialized in the manufacture of gauze jaconet and bandage cloth and disposes of part of the stock through the store. [...] of the value of Rs.2 339 and made a profit of Rs.332 on sale of half the stock during the year.
