The courses of the first section are intended on the one hand to help students to understand the structure of the society of which they form a part and the forces which underlie various social movements' and on the other hand to familiarise them with the working of the various methods agencies institutions etc. [...] The school-garden therefore besides being a part of the instructional appartus for teaching agriculture and Patwari's papers is also made the basis of a system of instruction in Nature knowledge and the means of developing the faculty of observation and intelligent scientific enquiry on the part of the boys. [...] But on several occasions the members of the School Committee were taken to the field to see the boys at work and the difference between crops in their own fields and those of the school-garden." "The actual work was chiefly performed by the boys in the presence of the master and under his guidance. [...] The school-gardens also receive help from the Agricultural Department in the form of good garden seeds free of cost and officers of the Department frequently inspect the schools and give advice to the masters. [...] The presence of examiners in the hall at the P. E. and I. E. is dispensed with ; the discipline being entirely under the control of the Senior Supervisors who in the present instance are Mr.
