consisting of representatives from the Board of Education and from the different examining bodies whose duty should be to co-ordinate and control the standards of these examinations to secure the interchangeability of certificates and to consider and as far as possible to adjust the relations of the examiing bodies and their spheres of external action. [...] It is only with the greatest difficulty that some of us the teachers and managers of the Bombay Scottish High School for instance have ept our schools open ; and the managers are still painfully conscious of the defects of their schools and of the inadequacy of the remuneratio that they can offer to the teaching staff. [...] Regard is Paid/not only to the results of the instruction in the cass rooms and to the q11.ti1ifications of the teachers but also to the suitabilitY of the buildings rile general equipment and the provision for physicgd exercise. [...] A large field for the active sympathy of the community lies to hand in the provision of scholarships and in the payment of fees in cases of need as well as in giving special prizes and in the donation of articles of equipment.
