They are a mixed blessing;—there is the inclination on the part of the teacher and pupil to aim simply at results; a tendency to cram a certain amount of inforation into the minds of the pupils without any possibility of the children mentally digesting or assimilating it ; and the whole aim of education being lowered to the mere passing of examinations. [...] This is tantamount to saying that as the practical existence of the soul in this world depends upon the existence of the body so the health of the soul depends to a certain great extent upon the health of the body. [...] "the removal of the sin pertaining to the soul and the rendeing it precious depends upon the strength of the body ; (for) it is owing to the existence of the body that there is cleansing of the sin of the soul."fi A well-formed regular healthy body symbolized and led one's thoughts to "the good the beautiful and the true." Hence it is that even angels like Sratish have as their epithets " [...] The gymnasiums of the ancient Greeks were similarly at first schools for the training of the body ; and with the growth of the nation they latterly became also the seats and the schools of learning. [...] According to the ancient Parsi books on the one hand the parents participate in the meritoriousness of the good acts performed by the children as the result of the good education imparted to them.
