The original writer of the book is Pandit Vinayak Rao the unrvalled author of the first three books of the Series but he has now no more share of credit in the work than that of the sculptor who carves an idol to be eventually a sociated with the name of the person Who gets it consecrated and raises a temple in its honor. [...] Following the traditions of the language a distinction has been made in the book between the so-called colloquial and the Pure" Hindi which has to some extent retrieved the fortunes of the language. [...] With knowledge the servant of God rises to the heights of goodness and to a noble position associates with sovereigns in this world and attains to the perfection of happiness in the next." For the original text of this saying I would refer you to " Bahaul-anwar " and the " Kashf-uz-zunun." He often remarked that "the ink of the scholar was holier than the blood of the martyr " and his saying [...] The sayings of the Prophet about the value of learning were fully realised respected and acted upon by his followers in the second century of the Hijra and we find from history that Munsoor the Kaliph of Baghdad commanded the translation into Arabic of the leading literary and scietific works in foreign languages. [...] On the very face of it the order in which the various steps of the topic to be touched by the teacher are written down in the Notes shows the teacher's line of procedure or so-called method.
