With the small increase in the price of cinchona bark it is considered it might he commercially profitable to market' bark grown in East Africa but it is the opinion that at the present moment the most important avenue to explore is the possibility of the production of synthetic chemical substances having a higher potency against the malarial parasite than the products of the cinchona plant."Plate [...] Our records indicate that in addition to the two Kalutara outbreaks Stauropus has also occurred in the Galle district and has appeared occasionally in the Kelani Valley in most of the districts of the Central Province and in the Badulla district of Uva. [...] The texture is extremely delicate and the deep purple hue of the petals softens away to the margin and gradually melts into the purer white of the sepals. [...] The next process tried was based on the assumption that the removal of organic and mucilageous matter from the copra prior to the expression of the oil would prevent the hydrolysis of the oil and the development of rancidity. [...] In the case of summer annuals the seeds germinate in the spring and the plants grow to maturity during the same season develop a crop of seeds and die before the end of the colder part of the year.
