[...] In view of the increasing interest now being taken in this crop in Ceylon the object of this paper is to give a detailed account of the methods of cultivation of tomatoes based on the available information. [...] The effect of light on the growth of pasture plants is complex varying with the species with the available nitrogen supply and even with the form in which the latter is added. [...] An interesting feature of the Conference was a series of exhibits coprising in addition to the illustrations of South African plants already mentioned a collection of types of cultivated So rOtum and of cowpea (Figur' sp.) prepared by the staff of the Royal Botanic Gardens Kew and an exhibit illustrating Linrucus's development as a botanist arranged by the Librarian of the Linnean Society.
