It made use of the living voice of the past to deliver itself from the tyranny of the dead hand of the past. [...] Middle Ages was the bondslave of the :1st the Renaissance and the Refomation delivered her effectually from 'bondage by showing her that she was not the slave but the heiress of the past. [...] fn the social sphere there is therise ofthe great Socialist Movement demanding the overthrow of the tyranny of individualism which has its counterpart here in India in the growing demand of the Social Reformer for deliverance from the tyranny of a form of socialism the caste system which has enslaved the individtud and prevented the progress of the race. [...] and the true social organization which is needed must be one which makes room for these new element. The ideal of the Progressives in the Social Reform party is not the adoption of the social order of the West for that would he but the exchange of one tyranny for another the replacement of an order which India has ougrown. [...] The Hon'ble Sir John Muir Mackenzie as Chairman of the Organizing Comittee recounted the different stages through which the preparations pasted mentioned the men who chiefly contributed to the success of the schema and explained the financial position of the Movment.
