It recommended further that " in the interests of the solidarity of the British Commonwealth it w [...] As Viscount Peel has said :- 'rite delicate beauty of woodland and quiet countrside; the immensity of the prairies and the fierce grandeur of the Rockies; the vast forests for lumber and other pulp wood ; the innumerable farms and the fisheies ; the coal and the minerals ; the excellent railways ; the great opportunities for development in agriculture in mining and in manufacture ; all thes [...] The methods for regulating industrial conditions which the Peace Treaty recommends are all more or less based on this fundamental princple and include the right of association for all lawful purposes by the employed as well as by the employers ; the payment of an adequate living wage ; the limitation of the hours of work and the fixation of rest periods ; the abolition of child labour and the [...] In the Geneva organisation the imaginative eye sees the glimmerings of the international parliament of the future world polity ; but for the present Geneva with a business-like regard for the practical contents itself with ensuring the substantial application of ratified conventions by Article 40 8 of the Treaty which provides for the examination by an international committee of the measure
