Foreign court art of a secular character slowly began to create a strong competition for the religious arts and crafts of the guilds which had been developing in the towns and by the middle of the seventeenth century it became one of the reasons for the gradual decline of the guilds. [...] But the tragedy of the Polish parttions towards the end of the eighteenth century centered the attention and emotions of the Polish people upon their country. [...] The extent of the movment of man-power that is even today taking place may he estimated from the fact that the number of placings and transfers carried out by the employment offices (including the transfers from district to district and over the whole territory of the Reich that have had to he operated for the purposes of ensuring an adequate labour supply for the performance of important war w [...] The author traces the history of the present reltions between the States and the Crown with a special emphasis on the evolution of Paramountcy. [...] After enumerating the four landmarks of the Indian Councils Act of 181 the MintMorley Reforms of 1909 the Act of 1919 and the Act of 1935 all of which promoted several democratic features in the constitution.
