The intention is to inculcate at an early age a love of nature ; to get the young people away from the uhealthy streets tha cinemas and the rush and bustle of crowded cities ; and in their place to introduce them to the silence of the countryside the liveliness and mystery of wood and forest the beauty of flowers in meadows the ripple of the brook the song of the lark and the majesty of [...] That is to say on him is cast the burden not only of the books but of their readers as well and in the miintaining of both is the test of his efficiency of the proper discharge of his trust. [...] The highest phase is the artistic expression of the imagination which half-consciously blends the various elements of innumerable impressions evolved by the memory into the single whole which expresses the idea of the artist. [...] The advantages of subject-correlation in the making of apparatus are considerable but the main issue is the value of the jig-saw puzzle in the teaching of English History and Geography. [...] At the second trial the pupil will take only three-quarters of the original time at the third the time will be reduced to one-half and so the process continues the picture becoming clearer and clearer in the mind's eye for the great vitug of the jig-saw is that it has the power of making one consider and look at‘a picture interestedly for very many times.
