With the growth of the political and social consciousness of the community women are coming to the forefront in the public life of Bengal and the demand for higher education among them is daily increasing in volume and intensity. [...] In the midst of the mad pursuit of wealth and power and of exploitation and annexation of territores when the world will grow weary and tired when the happiness Promised by material civilization will prove a lure and an illusion and the cry will go out from the oppressed and tortured heart of man for a life higher and spiritual then it will be the turn of India to deliver her( 149 ) message [...] antagonistically it anything worthy is to be achieved and that the saivlion of the country lies in synthetising the two different ideals of the teacher and the taught and in not allowing the cleavage between the two to grow wider. [...] Is not the value and importance of our work to be considered a sufficient compensation for the niggardly pittances that are doled out to us ? And if we do our works properly ---not according to the measure of our pay but according to the measure of our capacity and according to the needs of our country and countrymen — acting as the guides aid instructors of youth and bearing the torch of knowled [...] The librarian connects the life of the whole school by taking a round of all the classes just like the Headmaster of a school listening to the topics in the different classes putting in consultation with the class-teacher proper books for reference for students and holding round-table book-talks with different classes in the Library class-rooms for which there are fixed periods.
