It means that normal schools and teachers' institutes should include in their programmes of instruction not only the history and government of the native land the glorious wars and martial heroes of the past but a:so some considtion of the peaceful relations of the native land to other lands of the foreign policy of the many friendly methods that have been used for the settlement of internati [...] One obstacle to the rapid spread in the schools of the United States of an effort to give international understanding and international goodwill has been the oppostion of patriotic organizations such as the Daughters of the American Revlution the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion a society of former soldiers in the world war. [...] Then teachers and pupils can retell the fables of the past glow to the achievements of the heroes of old sing the national anthems and it is even permissible to teach the necessarily one-sided history that is commonly found. [...] In summary therefore education for international understanding and international goodwill is a duty of all the agencies of society—the family the Church the State the Press the theatre the cinema and among others the school. [...] The name of the winner shall immediately be reported by the local Sports Secretary to the Honorary Secretary of the Sports Committee of the U. P. S. E. A. 5. On receiving the names of winners from the various locality the Secretary of the Sports Committee of the U. P. S. E. A. will group localities into circles and appoint centre Secretaries and centres where further rounds of the tournament will
