We are told that the idea of establishing a Dairy Farm in connection with the School of Agriculture was originally coceived by him and that despite the effusions of a few of its detracors which have found place in the public press it has proved to be not only a financial success but has been the means also of prviding a supply of pure milk to most of the Government asylunA and hospit [...] As the raising of the fees in Departmental schools is likely to press heavily upon the non-Christian portion of the community many of whom would perforce be com?elled to attend mission schools the Director proposes introducing the " conscience clause " which has been in full force in the United Kingdom since the passing of the Right Hon. [...] The whole tendency of the thought of the day favours the belief that the roots of the present are to be found stretching far back to the past: to trace growth and development has become the chief object of human study. [...] The great national epics the Maltbharata and the !Ramayana which are generally regarded at the pregenot day as the best means of conveying to Hindu women arich education as is given them evince a thorough appreciation of true womanhood and ti idea of the fullest companionship between husband and wife cannot be absent from the minds of those to whom the story of Rama 777 and Situ has been fam [...] After giving an account of the scenery of the country which in many parts reminds one of the agricultural districts of England the writer speaks favourably of the character of the people :—" I was most favourably impressed with the general courtesy and good nature of the people as well as with their cleverness and ingenuity which are perhaps more generally known.
