A conservative party clings to the literature of the past and the traditional methods of its study ; the liberals dwelling rather on the defects of both matter and style in the literature of the past believe that the hope for these languages the creation of a new literature popular and; up to date and in the study of these languages on Western lines. [...] But the approaching completion of the new buildings on the Esplanade should be the turning-point in the history of the College. [...] Not to speak of the desirability of having it settled this year—which must be doubtfutif the Committee is to report first— the interests of good feeling and fellowship in the work of the University call for its deci-- sion one way or the other—without further consultation or after remittal to the Senate. [...] By his work " The Early Sovereigns of Travancore " and his articles on the same subject in the Christian College Magazine; the last of which appeared in the month of his death he dispelled partially the darkness in which the history of his state during-the lad and 13th centuries was shrouded and after& ed us reliable information on the names of the sovereigns of the period the political hit [...] And who does not know that among the class of institutions devoted to the use of the poor and the destitute public latrines are maitained in strict regard to the nature of those who resort to them ? if students are put to such necessities there must be something thoroughly rotten in the condition of these houses that has escaped even the attention of the Argus-eyed Municipality.
