The reception accorded to Professor Bose on the Continent has been very cordial. [...] Two events which have recently called the attention of the public in Ceylon to eductional matters are the awaril of the English University scholar4hip and the publication of the report of the Director of Public Istruction for 1896. [...] Quintin Hogg whose philanthropic labours on behalf of the children of the poorer classes of the central districts of London had in the course of years resulted in the acquisition of an unequalled practical knowledge of the means beSt adapted to combat with the difficulties of their surroundings during the period of adolescence and early manhood. [...] The main entrance is in the centre of the building and to the right of it on the ground floor are the offices and at the end an electrical laboratory.
