The Educational Review. A Monthly Record for India July 1926

1926

It is pleasing to record the continued hearty co-operation btween the Secretary of the Committee and the Head of the School throughout the " infancy and youth " of the school. [...] In a Presidency where the instability of tenure of the ill-paid school masters is in no small measure due to the short-sighted policy of private Managers of High Schools the tenure of the staff of this school can stand a good comparison with any Government institution of its kind. [...] TEM neglected condition of schools the apathy of the State towards the poor pay and prospects of teachers and the perceptible poverty of ideas in the so-called educated youths of the present day and the consequent unemployment demand very serious cosideration at the hands of experienced thinkers and teachers that meet in Conference every now and then. [...] The health of the student which is of prime importance to the teacher the parent and the State receives scant attention at the hands of the department. [...] We know that in the schools of England the teachers command the confidence and respect of the parents and the public to a greater degree than here.
