Andhra Jatheeya Kalasala Masulipatam One of the five Training Centres under the Wardha Scheme Hostel Teachers' Quarters and Gandhi Kutir Western view of the Main BuildingGREETINGS TO EDUCATIONAL INDIA On the eve of THE 14th ALL INDIA EDUCATIONAL CONFERENCE BOMBAY I am an interested reader of "Educational India" and entertain a high opinion of its contribution to the solution of the present-day [...] The resolutions of the Conference on these points have been scrutinised by the Provincial Governments and it is hoped that within a short time the conclusions relating to the shortening of the higher secondary course the lengthening of the University courses and the avodance of the abuse of two frequent formal examinations will be accepted in most provinces of India. [...] The Aswmedha and Rajasuya Yagas of kings and emperors and the tours and Digvijayas of Acharyas and Jagat-Gurus are illustrations of the will of the ancient leaders to produce a united nation. [...] The first task of education is to bring his free will into existence.' And the strange paradox of education is that the freedom of the individual is the outcome of the discipline of subjects that are imposed upon him. [...] The problem of the only child is more difficult naturally from the point of view both of the parent and of the child.
