My letter I pi csume it was that gave rise to the correspondence on the subject between the local Government of these provinces and the Government of India that was made public in your columns a few weeks ago ; while it has been honored I find by a leading article in the Enylialinvitt of the 12th instant and by a letter from the Civil Surgeon of Agra to the Collector of the district that foun [...] But that the costitutional function of the Anglo-Indian Press is that of a watchful ' Opposition ' there can be no doubt whatever and for the reason stated by me at the Trades dinner namely that there Is no other body here to fatal the port of an Opposition to the Government."
