The Bishop we are told " has virtually excommunicated the clergymen of the Church Missionary Society labouring in his diocese." It seems that the Bishop invited the Clergy to a Conference to be prededed by the celebration of the communion. [...] The present is not the first occasion on which the people of the district have caused the Government uneasiness Since the transfer of the district to us by the Nizam in 1860 there appear to have been a series of local rebellious. [...] 249 was less anxious to receive the territory bask from the British to whom it had now fallen than that the Boers should be expelled from it Sir Bartle altered the decision of the Conk mistionom so as to prevent the expulsion of the Boers. [...] With the other matters such as the appoinment of a Resident and the disbandment of Cetywayo's army Bartle Frere had not been " authorised to deal "; and on thQ and similar matters the Secretary of State says " I am unable to express an opinion in the absence of any definite in/creation as to the nature of your demands or the reasons for which you Aare deemed it necessary to make them." So [...] The Report of this Company for the half-year ending the 31st December lies open before us and it reminds no forcibly of the remarks in our issue of the 6th October 1877 when we briefly reviewed the prospects of that undertaking.
