[...] In the Travellers' Companion published under the ordeh of the Railway Board in 1907 on page 173-174 it is said under Mount 4bu that the. present three-storied temple dedicated to Rsabandth (Mahadeva or S'arikara) the first of the twenty-four Jain Teerthakaras stands on the site of the temples dedicated to S'iva and Vispu ; it also says that the site was purchased for the Jain temple. [...] To show in detail the differences between Kg.tyayana and Pa tailjali would be a task full of interest and highly instructive as showing the progress which the science of grammar had undoubtedy made from the time of Katyayana to that of Patailjali and as tracing in the work of the latter the germs of those failings which have continued growing and increasing in the works of the later grammarians
