As the identification of the Maisolos with the river Godavari upsets his argument he prefers the view of Yule who identifies the Maisolos with the river Krishna and seeks for Pitundra of Ptolemy in the district of Warangal in the Hyderabad State. [...] During the time of Kharavela the division of Kosala must have extended from the mouth of the Vadisadhara to the mouth of the Godavari. [...] As the early form of the letter da resembles that which is found in the Nä-nä-ghat epigraph and the Nisik inscription of Krishna Rapson assigns the coin to the first or second century B. C. and attributes it to the sixth member of the dynasty. [...] The division of an extensive empire into controllable units the selection of ambitious and enterprising members of the family for the government of the provinces and the association of the heiapparent to the throne with the reigning king in actual administrtion account for the singular immunity of the Andhra dynasty from the inveterate internecine tribal feuds the conspicuous absence of p [...] He attacks the theory of an eastern capital of the S'atavithana empire and the conjoint rule of the reigning sovereign with the heir apparent in accordance with the widely prevalent custom of the time.
