The reviewer says that as the wctrk has reached second edition' it is " presumahly popular " ; and he goes on :— "It is admitted that the art fof prescribing b7 badly understood by the majority of the younger members of the profession because it is inadequately taught and we agree with the althors of this volume when they say :- " It is regrettable that the medical of of the present day offers t [...] It weighs largefy in the.choice of a physician and sometimes with equal unreason determines his dismissal; it modifies the expression of the processes of disease and thus coplicates the art of diagnosis; and last but by no means least it influences the actions of medicines and therefore demands an attempted estimate in the construction of a scheme of treatment. [...] " Now the logic of all this would -appear to be an appeal for the removal of the official doses from the pages of the Pharmacopeia. [...] The existing plan affords an added protethm to the public by foiming a platform ' which the dispenser can approach the physician steuld the latter by a slip of the pen have ordered a dose manifestly excessive and dangerous ; and in view of this the suppression of the Pliicial dose:cameat be 'lightly advocated. [...] CI ARKE has chosen for lie theme of his presden.tial address to be delivered before the British HomeTathic Societi y on October 4th next " The Enthusiasm of Homeopathy." In our report of the proceedings of the Society's last meeOng the names of the Vice-Presidents of the year were given erroneously.
