In the meantime we would like to approach the wide circle of readers of the 'Rural India' to please consult their friends and other sympathisers of the rural uplift cause in their area and let us know the result of the echange of views on the points given below:— (1) Whether they favour the idea of holding the All India Rural Development Confrence? [...] The reports have begun to appear in the Press that the Behar Goverment have suspended the operation of the scheme of Rural development and' the expenditure on the extension of these activities have been stopped. [...] Dwivedi entirely for the Editorship of the Rural India and availing his services as the Secretary of the Sangha the Managing Committee of the Adarsha Seva Sagha decided in favour of Mr. [...] In the United Provinces the vilages have been woefully neglected in the past and ever since the advent of the British rule with its centralised mode of administration and the consequent drift from the village to the town the villages have been left to their own meagre resources and the villager to his misery and poverty his illiteracy ignorance and superstition and to inertia and conservt [...] The threads that sew through the songs of the Indian people like folksongs of all the nations in the world are of the past and the present and some of them prophetically throw their shadows into the future.
