[...] Species to be selected In the selection of species the first thing to be considered is the requirement of the people in surrounding areas and secondly the climatic conditions.of the area. [...] With a view to meet the demand for the pure seed of Gadag 1 the Department of Agriculture has undertaken the work of multiplication and distribution of Gadag 1 seed under the Revised Jayawant and Gadag I Scheme ' in the Gadag And Ron centres with the object of covering about 300 000 acres under this cotton. [...] One of the reasons for the high standard of excellence of the European breeds is the extensive and lucrative market which the best specimens of these breeds command all over the world.
