This was due to the unceasing efforts of helminthologists to elucidate the life-cycles of several important worms to study their biology and the biology of their larva their eggs and their intermediaries to study the effect of certain chemicals and various physical conditions on these to ascertain the results of various diets on the worm burden of susceptible animals and lastly the changes whi [...] Much of the success of tlit `grow more food' campaign for which there has been significant increase in output of food crops in the province was due to his indefatigable energy and for this he was the recipient of the Companionship of the Indian Empire in the year 1943. [...] The Battle of Britain and the Battle of the Atlantic depended as much on the heroism and skill of British airmen and seamen as on the discoveries and inventions of scientists working in the laboratories. [...] During the last war the Government announced its intention ' to set aside with Parliamentary sanction the sum of one million sterling to enable the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research to cooperate with the industries of the country in the formation and maintenance of approved associations for research. [...] The object of the scheme was to encourage the initiative of the manufacturer without ' chaining him to the routine of Goverment administration ' ; and to stimulate the systematic development of research and the cooperation of science with industry.
