A condensed account of the proceedings will be found in another place but we report in full the address presented by the Vice-Chancellor in the name of the Senate to the retiring Chancellor which is equally admirable as a thus's' of the past history of the University and as an exposition of the principles on which alone any true progress can be based. [...] Bombay.—The sixth Convocation of the University of Bombay was held on the 8th of January in the Town Ilall in the presence of a very large assembly. [...] His Excellency the Chancellor replied in a long and eloquent speech in the course of which he reviewed the policy of the British Government towards India especially in educating the natives of the country and paid a high tribute to the loyalty and ability displayed by the native press. [...] Burgess's Arithmetic in consequence of the printer correcting the position of the diacritical marks in the specimens of bad spelling we qnoted from the work under review we are made to say the contrary of what we intended. [...] Schoolmasters in particular are invited to make free use of the correspondence columns of the " Record" fbr the intechange of experiences and the mutual elucidation of dijiculties connected with the management of their schools.
