The aims of Yoga are Freedom from the bonds of matter (prakriti) and realisation of our relationship with the whole: The subtlest for-in of matter is the.mind which is the vehicle of thought—says the Yogi. [...] On the sure basis of the.elf-surrender to the Lord of Yoga who stands as the One Life behind all worlds develops the character of the Yogi. [...] For this purpose the Yogi undergoes especially in the beginning some regular of psycho-physical sadhanas the special features being Pranayama and Dharana the regulation of the breath and concentration fixing th.e attention on various parts of the body etc. [...] The medium sees the form with her open eyes and it hides the view„ of any object in the room in the actual line of vision. [...] With writing paper before the Writer and pencil in hand and putting the mind and body into a passive condition—the hand may make movements quite outside the conscious intention of the sitters and eventually write coherent and sequential matter not in the mind of the writer.
