Akbar conquered Kashmir at the close of the 16th Century ; the Afghans overcame the Moguls in the middle of the 18th Century and were vanquished by the Sikhs 100 years later. [...] The country would have been swept by tea njii Siugh into the net of the thirty-six native states of the Punjab had the British not interfered at the close of the 1st Sikh War when it was governed by Golab Singh one of the Generals of Rangit Singh. [...] The position became serious and in 1910 the Forest Research Institute initiated investigations into the possibilities of utilising the forest resources of the country for the development of the indigenous paper-making industry. [...] These courses are much appreciated by the Managing Agents of the mills concerned and are of particular assistance to the smaller and struggling mills So far in India the main progress in paper making has been chiefly confined to the manufature of paper from bamboos and grasses which produce the better grades of writing and printing papers but 80% of the total imports consist of the cheaper va [...] The Nat History Section was at first located in the rIndian state Kailways Prkagazirte KASITNIIR STAG Laing of the museum but in the year 1936 the stees of the Museum were able to complete the inal plan of the Museum and to provide a 'irate wing for the Natural History Section.
