And for years to come the internal development of the latent resources of the Indian peninsula and its eastern appanage of Burma will employ the best energies alike of the administration and the peo?le. [...] This society too has for its objects the extension of the knowledge of the tenets of Buddhism in their purer form the study of the Pah texts a language allied to Sanskrit in which what are regarded as the most authoritative sources of the system are written and the establishment of a college on Western lines in harmony with Buddhist tenets at Rangoon together with the publication of an orga [...] From the part played by the Sangcha in the life of the Burmese where almost the entire education' of the young is in the hands of Buddhist monks conducted in the monastery schools the maintenance of a high standard of conduct therein becomes therefore a State concern —and one it is thThathanabaing's prerogative to enforce. [...] In short I suggested a complete organisation for the economic commercial and industrial development of India and its resources ; as I believed then and believe now that Swadeshism is the thing whiccan effect the salvation of the people of this land of regrets." Swadeshism is the weapon in the hands of not only Indians but the whole Asiatic world to oreak the prowess of Europe. [...] THE attention of the people of India is frequently called to the pleasant sunny side of occidental life—to the prpossessing features of American civilisation—to the wonderful opportunities which this new continent affords to the enteprising and willing worker ; and many a moral is drawn from the past and current history of the United States which affords instruction to the people of India.
