The Congress party had put the Plan first in its manifesto and had secured 45 per cent of the votes polled in the elections to the House of the People against only 16 per cent for the Praja Socialist party which sought a mandate to oppose the Congress and all that it stood for including the Plan. [...] The support given in the elections to the more rabid among the communal parties to whom the Prime Miniter objects did not extend to more than eight per cent of the votes cast for the House of the People. [...] The difference in the interpretation on the question of the future of the Sudan in relation to the Commonwealth has ' been largely responsible for the set-back that has now occurred. [...] The celebration of the fourth anniversary of the French-Viet-Nam agreement was marked by the release of a hundred prisoners the Viet-Nam Premier formally proceeding to the prison with a pick-axe to break open its doors. [...] The ownership of the tin mines in Bangka Island vests in the Government of Indonesia as it did in the bitch colonial government before the transfer of sovereignty in December 1949.
