civil resistance to undertake through an organisation constructive programme as contemplated in the Poona Statement and to take up the government challenge in relation to the forth-coming election to the Legislative Assembly to secure election of its candidates on the issues of (i) the repeal of the repressive laws and (ii) the rejection of the White-paper Scheme and its replacement by National De [...] It will be remembered that this veteran physical culturist handed over some time back an equivalent amount to the Goverment of Bengal for the military training of the Bengalees but the Government returned the amount as the idea of having a permanent regiment of the Bengalees was given up by the authorities. [...] Within an hour the whole nation shook with rage and indignation at the party whose member it was alleged had thus hurt and humiliated the prestige of the yeopl e. Before the night was over unnumbered multitudes of leaflets were disseminated throughout the length and breadth of the country by Chancellor HITLER'S Nazi Party denouncing the outrage in tones of fear dread and abhorrence and accus [...] The next morning EARNST TORGLER (aged 41) leader of the Communist Parliamentary Party walked calmly into the central police station in Berlin in the company of two lawyers and placed himself at the disposal of the authorities to answer all the charges levelled against him and his party overnight. [...] It will also in the event of the Party succeeding at the polls give the country an idea of the practical usefulness of the legislature business.
