The Department will concern itself with the cordination of these activities and with the co-operation of the Governments of Prvinces and States prepare a general plan suited to the requirements of the country. [...] Knowing the percentage of yield of pulp and the percentage of - cellulose content of the pulp the percentage -cellulose content of the raw material could be calculated. [...] On comparing the results obtained for this type of bamboo with those given by the others it would appear that the inferior quality of the pulp in the case of the manwel variety may be due to certain inherent characteristics of the materials present such as ligneous pectinous and resinous matters ; it may be possible to improve the yield and quality of the pulp by varying the treatment. [...] The quality of the pulps from the three portions of the fibre was very nearly the same except that the middle portion gave the lowest while the top portion yielded the highest ash content. [...] The \ aloes for the ash content of some of the pulps after repeating the \\ ash ing and bleaching treatments show that in many cases the high ash content was due to the presence of adhering impurities in the bulk samples of the pulp which could be eliminaed by repeated washing and a second mild bleach.
